Kill (DVD) (Special Collector's Edition) (First Press Limited Edition) (Japan Version)
Kill (DVD) (Special Collector's Edition) (First Press Limited Edition) (Japan Version)

Who needs story when you can have sword fights? The brainchild of anime auteur Oshii Mamoru, Kill is a four-part live-action anthology that cuts straight to the chase with four action-climax shorts from four different filmmakers. Other than Oshii Mamoru himself, the other directors signed up for some katakana action are Fukasaku Kenta (Battle Royale 2), Tahara Minoru, and Tsujimoto Takanori who also directed a segment in Oshii's 2007 omnibus project The Women of Fast Food. Each director crafted an original action segment as if it was the climax for a complete film. A follow-up to his Assault Girl segment in The Women of Fast Food, Oshii's Assault Girl 2 sees two women dressed in black and white (Babel's Kikuchi Rinko and Fujita Yoko) facing off with swords in an open field. Returning to the familiar territory of surreal youth violence, Fukasaku Kenta's Kodomo-Zamurai is set in an elementary school with a bullying problem where the students speak in samurai and carry swords in their backpacks. A high school girl sets out to avenge her murdered family in Tsujimoto Takanori's Kilico. Tahara Minoru's Zan-Gun revolves around a soldier and a haunted sword that seeks blood. Special Collector's Edition comes with mini theater program, deluxe booklet, and two bonus discs of special features: Making Of Episode Making Of Action Making Of Directors' Discussion Oshii Mamoru x Satoshi

Shinobi (Normal Edition)(Japan Version-English Subtitles)

Directed by Shimoyama Ten, the dazzling 2005 film Shinobi centers on the drama resulting from the war between two ninja clans in the early part of the Tokugawa era. In the film, Nakama Yukie portrays Oboro, the granddaughter of Ogen (Lily), the respected Iga clan matriarch, while Odagiri Jo plays Gennosuke, the son of Danjo Koga (Minoru Terada), the powerful Koga clan leader. While living deep within the mountains, the two ninja clans have honed their skills to superhuman levels. Unfortunately, the clans do not get along and are forbidden by imperial decree from sharing their techniques with each other. Viewing the two ninja clans as a threat to his scheme for total domination, the nefarious Nankobo Tenkai (Ishibashi Renji) plots to intensify the rivalry between the two clans. Nakobo creates a contest in which the clans are forced to choose five of their best warriors to participate. The battle, however, isn't just a friendly contest, it's a duel to the death! Early in the film, Oboro and Gennosuke meet and fall in love unaware of their clan ties, so when they are both selected to compete they are surprised to discover the truth about one another's identities. However, Gennosuke initially refuses to participate, but is forced to make an appearance when his compatriots start dropping like flies. The combatants in this contest are not your run-of-the-mill ninja warriors, each has powers beyond that of mortal men. There's the face-changing Saemon Kisaragi (Kinoshita

KinKi Kids are back on the alphabet track with J Album, their first studio album since 2007's Phi. The "e;J"e; in the title can refer to the album's position as the duo's 11th release, like the 11th poker card "e;Jack"e;, and as their "e;Journey"e; to the next decade. "e;J"e; is also for "e;Just"e;, as in the duo will continue to just offer straightforward songs and never forget where they came from. Double meanings aside, J Album comes with 11 tracks including KinKi Kids' three most recent chart-topping singles: Swan Song, Yakusoku, and the 33pun Tantei theme song Secret Code. Fist And Guts (US Version)

It is a fact that the legendary Lau Brothers are among the very elite of the Hong Kong action cinema. In their 1979 kung fu comedy Fists and Guts, the Lau brothers occupy different positions on and off the screen, with Lau Kar Wing directing and co-starring with Lau Kar Fai (better known internationally as Gordon Liu), and Lau Kar Leung leading his brothers on action choreography. Multiple award-winner Arthur Wong serves double duty as screenwriter and cinematographer, as popular villain Lo Lieh, Lee Hoi Sang, and Lo Hoi Pang round out the main cast. The film is packed with ingenious fight scenes the Lau Brothers are known and loved for, and in particular the climatic 9-minute all-out kung fu showdown between Gordon Liu and Lo Lieh is considered one of the best the genre has ever seen. The sacred relics of Buddha kept inside the Shaolin Temple is stolen by a Tibetan monk. In response, the Temple sends an apprentice named San (Gordon Liu) to Tibet in the guise of a civilian to investigate. Unfortunately, the raider is a master of disguise, and that gives San a lot of troubles on his mission. But, with the help of new allies Yung (Lau Kar Wing) and Peng (Lee Hoi Sang) and his own Fists and Guts, San eventually manages to get the sacred relics back!
